The business case for a military camp of approximate 1600 persons generates about 16, 8 ton of waste per week. This waste consists of large components of oils and tires and has to be treated according to Dutch waste management law. Currently, the military campus abroad are required to comply with the Dutch Law therefore waste is being transported to the Netherlands for further treatment which increases highly the costs associated.
By integrating the WER, the military camps will be able to eliminate these logistics costs and have not only on-site waste treatment but also generated energy.
Logistics costs which could be saved with the WER: diesel of € 4 per liter, normal waste disposal cost of € 120 per ton and chemical waste disposal € 5000 per ton. The diesel savings vary between € 1, 5 and € 1, 75 million per year and ±42 – 50 liter an hour saved. The normal waste disposal gives a saving of € 73 thousand per year and for chemical waste disposal: € 1,25 million per year. The total saving comes at € 2, 8 - € 3, 1 million per year. This amount is well enough to earn back the investment of € 1 million in an year, to operate it (€ 200.000 - € 300.000 / year) and have a margin left to cover other expenses.
With the WER the military would save diesel and waste disposal will be managed according to Dutch practices. The energy savings are high enough to earn back the initial investment in one year.

Mobile application for converting waste into gaseous fuel for dual fuel use in the existing generator. The size of the WER is 2x 20ft containers and has an average capacity of 16,8 tons waste to energy conversion per week. This corresponds to the waste produced by ±1600 MoD staff - ±1600 inhabitants and can result in approximately 3000 - 5000 litres of diesel fuel savings a week.
